Acidity occurs when there is excess of intake of acids in gastric glands of stomach, which produce stomach ache, bad breath, gas and some other symptoms. Acidity can be caused due to a long gap between meals, excessive intake of alcohol, coffee, smoking or tea, empty stomach. When intake of acids get more than the usual - GERD (gastroesophageal reflux disease) or acid reflux or heartburn, which is triggered when they eat spicy foods or a heavy meal.
Basil Leaves : The carminative and soothing properties of basil leaves give instant relief from acidity. At very first sign of gas, eat some basil leaves or boil almost 3-4 basil leaves in a cup of water and let it cool down for few minutes. Sip it frequently.
Fennel : For gastrointestinal benefits, fennel tea is definitely helpful for digestive tract which is to be happy and healthy. This tea is very useful to help in bloating and indigestion because of the oils which were found in all of these seeds.
Cinnamon : This spice works like a natural antacid and helps to settle down the stomach, by improving absorption and digestion. To get relief, drink this cinnamon tea to heal infections which get cause in gastrointestinal tract.
Buttermilk : Do you know that buttermilk is categorised like a sattvic food in Ayurveda? So, that the reason you get acidity after having a spicy or heavy meal, skip antacid and have a glass of chaas. Buttermilk has lactic acid which normalizes acidity in stomach. Sprinkle 1 teaspoon of ground coriander leaves or black pepper for best results.

Cloves : Cloves have grabbed a prominent place over the years in traditional Ayurveda and Chinese medicine to treat the digestive disorders. Cloves are too carminative in nature, so preventing formation of gas in gastrointestinal tract. Add cloves while you cook foods like black gram or kidney beans which tend to cause the flatulence.
